Role and Skill Coverage - Using Role Coverage Insights

Introduction

The Role Insights tab of Ibbaka Talio’s Role and Skill Coverage module is actually a dynamic feature that will show you strengths or gaps you may have for any level of a competency model. In other words, this tab can be insights for jobs, roles, behaviours, competencies, etc. What you see in this tab depends entirely on the level at which you have chosen to analyze coverage in the filter above.

For the purpose of this article, we’ll talk about roles, with the caveat that this tab can represent more than just roles. That said, ‘match scoring’ and ‘coverage scoring’ for the element for which you want to measure coverage is calculated the same way, based on how well individuals match the skill criteria for that element.

Using the Role Insights Tab

The role insights tab shows you the same information contained in the summary column on the role coverage matrix, but with one important difference - roles are sorted into strengths and gaps.

You will only see roles displayed as gaps if you have set the filters and constraints for your analysis such that the number of people you need who can fulfill that role outnumbers the people who have a 50% or higher role match score for that role.

A role that is considered a gap is one where you do not have enough people who meet at least a 50% role match score relative to the number of people you’ve indicated you need to fill the capacity you’ve indicated for that role.
