Hiding Skill Self-Assessments On Your Skill Profile
Ibbaka Talent gives you the option to hide your self-assessments for all of the skills in your Skill Profile. We created this option for a couple of reasons:
If your organization is using peer assessment as part of the process to create an objective view to everyone’s skill proficiency, the resulting SkillRank values that display in your profile alongside your self-assessment can be different from your self-assessment. Regardless of whether your self-assessment is higher or lower than your SkillRank, you may wish to either 1) let SkillRank speak for your abilities, or 2) you may want time to reflect on those differences and to adjust your self-assessments before making both visible again.
It’s worth mentioning that when SkillRank data becomes available, it’s inevitable and totally normal that some of your self-assessments will match your SkillRank, while others may be above or below. Your self-assessments do not need to match your SkillRank. The other reason that you may choose to hide your self-assessments is that you want to give some thought to your initial judgement about your proficiency, or you may be making revisions to self-assessments over a period of time.
We’re not suggesting that either of these approaches are best practices or the right way to do things. We find that most people reflect on individual skills or a set of skills in their skill profile from time to time as a habit.
Note that while you have the option to hide your self-assessments, SkillRank data is always visible on your profile. To learn more about SkillRank and how it is derived, please visit our FAQ.
