Search for People and Skills

Skill and People search on Ibbaka Talent can help find people to join a team, to fulfill temporary or permanent roles in your organization, or find subject matter experts in a particular area.

Specifically, these features make it possible for you to:

  • Search for a single skill and see all the people in your organization who have that skill

  • View skills that fall into different categories

  • Discover skills that are related to skills you already have, and add these skills to your profile

  • Quickly locate the skill profile of someone in your organization

  • Find people who have a combination of skills and other traits you may be looking for to fulfill a need

Search for and Discover Skills (Browse Skills)

This feature allows you to:

  • Search for and find people with a particular skill, and easily navigate to their skill profile(s)

  • Identify related skills to the one for which you have searched and add them to your profile. This can be especially useful for more anyone seeking to add skills to their skill profile

  • Browse and discover skills by category

Search for and find people with a skill:

  1. Go to the ‘Browse’ menu at the top left-hand corner of your screen.

  2. Choose ‘Skills’.

  3. Enter the name of a skill and press ENTER.

  4. Click the arrow to the right of the skill name to learn more about that skill and the people who have that skill.

  5. Click the arrow next to the text at the bottom of the drawer that says, ‘X Number' of people have this skill’.

  6. Once you open this part of the drawer, click the link that says, ‘View All People With This Skill’. This will take you to the Browse People page.

NOTE: Skills with the ‘checkmark’ next to them indicate that this is a skill you already have in your skill profile.

Identify skills related to the ones you are searching for (and add them to your profile):

  1. Click Browse, then Skills. Type the name of the skill you are looking for.

  2. Open the drawer for any given skill by clicking on the arrow to the right of its name. Related skills will be listed in the drawer. Skills you already have will have a checkmark.

  3. If you want to, add related skills that you do not already have in your profile by clicking the ‘plus’ sign next to the listed related skills.

    A window will open with the skill you have selected at the top. Click ‘Yes’ to add that skill to your profile and self-assess your level of proficiency.

  4. Browse and discover skills by category. Once you are browsing skills, simply check or un-check the various category options at the top of the skills list. The list of skills will filter to reveal skills in that category.

Search for People by Name or by Skills (Browse People)

Searching for individual people on Ibbaka Talent is simple:

  1. Go to the Browse menu and choose people.

  2. Enter the name of the person for whom you are searching, or enter the name a skill. You can any part of their name as it appears on their Skill Profile.

    Note that this field will allow you to search for one or more skills. Simply separate the skills by a space. When you type multiple skills, Ibbaka Talent will search for people who have at least one of the skills you’ve typed.

  3. When the search narrows and you see the person you are looking for, click the arrow to the right of their name. This allows you to view their Skill Profile Summary and some of their top skills.

  4. The name of the person will turn orange when you open the drawer. This indicates you can click on the name and go directly to that person’s skill profile.

    NOTE: As you browse people in your search results, you will notice a Skill Match percentage above their profile summary. This represents the person’s match for the skill in question-based on their Skill Rank. Skill Rank is calculated on the basis of multiple, weighted peer assessments accumulated over time. Advanced Search

To search for people using multiple skills and other traits, you need to begin by navigating to Browse > People (see above).

  1. From the Browse > People screen, choose ‘Advanced Search’ at the top left.

  2. If you belong to more than one organisation or business unit, and these organisations are represented on Ibbaka Talent, you can choose to search from all of the people you are allowed to see, or just one group from the drop-down menu in the upper left of your screen.

The way you continue your search is up to you. You can take a couple of different paths:

Search by Description - Enter a sentence or two (or cut and paste some text) that describes the type of people for whom you are searching. Your description can include locations, skills, etc. Ibbaka Talent’s natural language processing will parse your text into search criteria when you click ‘Search by Description’.

Search for a Combination of Skills and Criteria - Click the arrow next to ‘Skills’. Type the names of skills into the search field. Skills will appear in a drop-down as you type. Select the ones you want to combine in your search.

Ibbaka Talent will show you people who have any of the skill criteria you’ve entered, along with a Skill Match percentage that can help you understand how well they fit the criteria. People with a higher Skill Match percentage are more likely to have all of the skills you’ve requested. Add criteria to the other fields as you wish.

To clear the search form and start over, click ‘Start Over’ in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
