Jobs: Self-Assess Skills and Understand Required Level of Expertise

You can always navigate to a connected job on your profile by going to the Roles tab and then by clicking ‘Jobs’. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to rate yourself for any skills that were not already in your profile and previously self-rated. Of course, you can change your self-rating at any time.

Self-Assess Must-Have Skills for Your Job

  1. Open the job you connected to your Skill Profile under the Roles tab

  2. In the job window, click the arrow to the right of the skill drawer. If there are several drawers defined for the job (e.g., roles, behaviours, tasks, etc), or if the job description is particularly long, you may need to scroll down

  3. Click the question marks next to each skill to choose a point on your organization’s rating scale. The bottom icon is the lowest value, and the top icon is the highest level.

  4. You can change these ratings at any time, either in the job window or directly in your skill profile.

If you are self-assessing for a job in a competency model, as you assess each of your skills, the target proficiency level for each is revealed on the right of each skill label. Once three or more people have contributed feedback to your skill level, either through being a designated observer for your job, or through teams, you will also see SkillRank data displayed here. For more on SkillRank and how this works, please refer to our FAQ, and scroll to the section titled, ‘About SkillRank’.

I’m new to the assessment scale. How do I know how each point is defined?

If you’re new to the rating scale in our system, and you want to understand what the different icons mean, we recommend you self-rate your skills under the skills tab on your profile. When you click the ‘question mark’ for each skill here, a window will pop up that will allow you to read about the definitions associated with each point on the scale.
